What It Takes To Be An Air Traffic Controller At The World’s Busiest Airport
I thought this video would be a great reminder of just how stressful and crazy the daily life of an Air Traffic Controller is after this terrifying report today about Air Traffic Controllers resigning due to the stress of what is now the longest government shutdown in US history:
“We didn’t see that in 2019,” Daniels went on. “We are 400 less controllers today than we were in the 2019 shutdown. And now they’ve been stretched so thin for so long, with so much going on, so much pressure on their backs, that they’re actually resigning from the profession.”
Airlines have cancelled over 700 flights (3% of flights) across 40 airports as of today, with cancellations expected to ramp up to 10% by next Friday.
Louvre Heist: How Thieves Stole Priceless Jewels in Broad Daylight
The Wall Street Journal breaks down this past weekend’s wild daylight robbery at the Louvre, with thieves swiping eight priceless royal jewels—including pieces once worn by Empress Eugénie—in just seven minutes. They used a lift truck to break in through a second-floor window, smashed display cases in the Galerie d’Apollon, and sped off on scooters, leaving behind tools and one damaged crown. The stunt exposed major security gaps at the world’s most famous museum and sparked a massive manhunt—but experts say if the gems are already recut or sold, they might be gone for good.
Alice’s Kids Is Not Scott’s Tots
In a bit of good news, Alice’s Kids use Steve Carell/Michael Scott to announce that they will cover the costs of prom tickets for hundreds of high school seniors across Altadena after the wildfires ripped through their town a few months back.
“We Back Up”
Like most of you, I keep finding myself doomscrolling through increasingly terrible news, especially over the last few months. In an act of digital desperation, I pulled up my old RSS feed reader the other night and was relieved to see that there is still interesting and entertaining content being published by my former peers.
My plan is to, once again, keep you apprised of this content and hopefully provide a nice distraction from the madness provided by the real world and social media.
Glad to be back with you.
